Understanding Seats

UptimeIO uses a seat-based model for team members and notification contacts.

Team Seats

What they are: Additional team members with full dashboard access What they can do:

Create and manage monitors
View all incidents and metrics
Configure integrations
Manage status pages
Each team member can add 1 email + 1 SMS integration

Availability:

Not available on Free or Solo Basic
Solo Pro: 1 included, add-ons available
Team: 5 included, add-ons available
Organization: 10-30 included, add-ons available

Notification Seats

What they are: Additional notification recipients without dashboard access What they can do:

Receive email and SMS notifications
Each seat allows 1 email + 1 SMS integration
No dashboard access

Availability:

Not available on Free plan
Solo Basic: 2 included, no add-ons
Solo Pro: 5 included, add-ons available
Team: 10 included, add-ons available
Organization: 20-50 included, add-ons available

Seat Calculation

The maximum number of email/SMS integrations is:

Max Email/SMS = Owner + Team Seats + Notification Seats

Examples:

Free: 1 owner = 1 total
Solo Basic: 1 owner + 2 notification = 3 total
Solo Pro: 1 owner + 1 team + 5 notification = 7 total
Team: 1 owner + 5 team + 10 notification = 16 total
Organization Basic: 1 owner + 10 team + 20 notification = 31 total

Free Integrations

These integrations don’t count toward your seat limits and are unlimited on all plans:

Slack - Team workspace notifications
Discord - Community notifications
Webhooks - Custom integrations
Telegram - Bot notifications
Pushover - Mobile push notifications
PagerDuty - Incident management

Use free integrations to maximize your notification reach without consuming seats.

Check Intervals

Different plans have different minimum check intervals:

Organization	30 seconds	24 hours

All plans can set check intervals up to 24 hours. The minimum interval determines how frequently you can check.

Data Retention

How long your monitoring data is stored:

Data older than your retention period is automatically archived and not included in uptime calculations.

Upgrading & Downgrading

Upgrading

When you upgrade:

✅ New limits apply immediately
✅ All existing monitors remain active
✅ Purchased add-ons are preserved
✅ No data loss

Downgrading

When you downgrade, UptimeIO automatically:

⚠️ Pauses newest monitors exceeding new limit
⚠️ Updates check intervals to meet new minimum
⚠️ Disables premium features not in new plan
⚠️ Preserves purchased add-ons

Before downgrading, you’ll see a preview showing exactly which monitors will be paused and which features will be disabled.

Downgrade Preview Example

Current: Team Plan (100 monitors, 30s interval)
Downgrade to: Solo Basic (20 monitors, 60s interval)

Impact:
- 80 monitors will be paused (newest first)
- 15 monitors will have intervals updated to 60s
- SSL monitoring disabled on 25 monitors
- Whitelabel status pages disabled

Add-ons

Available on Solo Pro, Team, and Organization plans.

Team Member Add-ons

Add additional team members with full dashboard access. Includes:

Full dashboard access
Can create/manage monitors
Can configure integrations
1 email + 1 SMS integration per member

Notification Seat Add-ons

Add additional notification recipients without dashboard access. Includes:

Receive notifications only
No dashboard access
1 email + 1 SMS integration per seat

Add-ons are preserved when upgrading. If you have Solo Pro with 5 extra team members and upgrade to Team (which includes 5), you’ll have 10 total team members.

FAQ

Can I change plans anytime?

Yes! You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades show you a preview of what will change before confirming.

What happens to my data if I downgrade?

Your data is preserved within the new plan’s retention period. For example, if you downgrade from Team (24 months) to Solo (12 months), data older than 12 months will be archived but not deleted.

What happens if I exceed my monitor limit?

You cannot create new monitors or resume paused monitors until you upgrade your plan or delete/pause existing monitors.

Do you offer discounts for non-profits?

Yes! We offer 50% discounts for registered non-profit organizations. Contact [email protected] with your non-profit documentation.

Are there any hidden fees?

No hidden fees! SMS credits and add-ons are clearly itemized in your billing.
