# Custom Domain

> Serve your status page from your own domain, such as status.yourcompany.com, with HTTPS

By default, a status page lives at `your-subdomain.status.uptimeio.com`. On Pro and Scale you can serve it from your own domain instead, for example `status.yourcompany.com`. UptimeIO provisions the HTTPS certificate for you.

## Connect a domain

  <Step title="Open the Custom Domain tab">
    Click **Status Pages** in the sidebar, open a page, and select **Custom Domain**.

  <Step title="Add the domain">
    Enter the domain in **Domain**, for example `status.yourcompany.com`, and click **Add Domain**. Use a subdomain of a domain you control.

  <Step title="Create the DNS records">
    Click **Verify DNS**. The dashboard lists the exact records to create, usually a CNAME record that points your domain to UptimeIO and a TXT record that proves you own it. Use the copy button next to each value, then add the records at your DNS provider.

  <Step title="Verify">
    Wait for DNS to update, then click **Verify DNS** again. The status changes from **Pending verification** to **Verified**. After verification, the HTTPS certificate status appears next to the domain.

Once verified, the page header and the **View** button use your domain.

## Remove a domain

Click **Remove** and confirm. The status page goes back to its default `status.uptimeio.com` address.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom | What to do |
| - | - |
| Stays on **Pending verification** | Check that the records match the dashboard values exactly. DNS changes can take time to propagate. Click **Verify DNS** to check again. |
| The message says the feature is not available | Custom domains need the Pro or Scale plan. See [Plans & Billing](/billing/plans). |
