# Announcements

> Post notices, warnings and updates on your status page

Announcements are short notices that appear on your public status page. Use them for news that is not an incident, such as a new feature, planned work or a warning for customers.

## Create an announcement

  <Step title="Open the Announcements tab">
    Click **Status Pages** in the sidebar, open a page, and select **Announcements**.

  <Step title="Start a new announcement">
    Click **New Announcement**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in the details">
    Enter a **Title** (up to 200 characters) and a **Message** (up to 5,000 characters). Choose a **Type**. A preview shows how the announcement looks.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Create**. To change an announcement later, click its edit icon and then **Update**.

## Types

| Type | Use for |
| - | - |
| **Announcement** | General news |
| **Warning** | Something customers should be aware of |
| **New** | New features or services |
| **Update** | Changes to existing behavior |

## Publish, unpublish and delete

Each announcement shows its status and creation date. Use the publish control on the row to show or hide it on the public page. An unpublished announcement stays in the list so you can reuse it. Use the delete icon to remove it permanently.
