# Delete Incident

> Delete an incident (session authentication only)

## Overview

Soft-deletes an incident and records who deleted it. Deleted incidents no longer appear in the API.

`DELETE /api/incidents/{id}`

## Authentication

Session only: `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_JWT`. API keys are rejected with `403 JWT_REQUIRED`. The user needs the `can_manage_incidents` permission.

## Errors

| Status | Code | When |
| - | - | - |
| `400` | `VALIDATION_ERROR` | `id` is not a UUID. |
| `401` | `MISSING_AUTH`, `INVALID_TOKEN` | Missing or invalid session token. |
| `403` | `JWT_REQUIRED`, `INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSIONS` | API key used, or the user cannot manage incidents. |
| `404` | `RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND` | No such incident in your project. |
