# Acknowledge Incident

> Mark an open incident as acknowledged

## Overview

Shorthand for [Update Status](/api-reference/incidents/update-status) with `status: "acknowledged"`. The caller is recorded as the assignee and the status note is `Incident acknowledged`. Only `open` incidents can be acknowledged.

`POST /api/incidents/{id}/acknowledge`

## Authentication

`X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY` (`read_write` scope) or `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_JWT`. Requires the `can_manage_incidents` permission.

## Path parameters

| Parameter | Type | Description |
| - | - | - |
| `id` | UUID | Incident ID. No request body is needed. |

## Example

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST https://api.uptimeio.com/api/incidents/3f6c1a52-9d1e-4b0a-8f7d-2a1b3c4d5e6f/acknowledge \
  -H "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"
```
