# Team Members and Roles

> Invite people to your organization and control what each role can do

An organization can have several members. Each member has a **role** that controls what they can see and change. Invite teammates by email and change their role at any time.

## Invite a team member

    Click **Settings** in the sidebar, then select the **Team** tab.

  <Step title="Enter the invitation">
    Under **Invite by email**, enter the person's email address and choose a **Role**: Admin, Member or Viewer.

    Click **Send Invite**. The person receives an email with a link to join. They appear in the list as pending until they accept.

Only owners and admins can invite people, change roles or remove members. Other roles can view the list.

## Manage members and invitations

| Action | Where | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| **Change a role** | Role menu on the member's row | Takes effect immediately. |
| **Remove** | **Remove** on the member's row | The person loses access to the organization. |
| **Resend** | Pending invitation row | Sends the invitation email again. |
| **Revoke** | Pending invitation row | Cancels the invitation. |

You cannot change your own role or remove yourself. The organization owner's role cannot be changed or removed.

## Example

A support engineer needs to watch dashboards but should not change monitors. Invite them as **Viewer**. When they start maintaining monitors, change their role to **Member**.
